Is there "Absolute truth"?

Absolute truth is defined as inflexible reality: fixed, invariable, unalterable facts. For example, it is a fixed, invariable, unalterable fact that there are absolutely no square circles and there are absolutely no round squares. An absolute truth, sometimes called a universal truth, is an unalterable and permanent fact.

The concept of absolute truths ..What they are and whether they exist has been debated among many different groups of people. People often look to science to determine whether something constitutes an absolute truth, but science tends to avoid absolutism. Even when scientists reasonably believe an explanation, it is often couched as theory or proofs. However, as we advance in science, we often find ourselves disproving proofs. A great deal of proof on a subject makes it more likely, but does not make it absolute truth.

Is it absolute truth that at this moment where I am in time and space that the sun is shining and the wind is blowing? Yes that is an absolute truth. But, I would have to agree with Dragon King that it is only on the physical plane will you find such absolute truths.

I believe the word truth has a variety of meanings, from honesty, good faith, and sincerity in general, to agreement with fact or reality in particular. The term has no single definition about which a majority of professional philosophers and scholars agree, and various theories of truth continue to be debated. There are differing claims on such questions as what constitutes truth; how to define and identify truth; the roles that revealed and acquired knowledge play, and!, Whether truth is subjective, relative, objective, or absolute.

One view says that there are no absolutes that define reality. Those that hold this view believe everything is relative to something else.
The other view holds that there are indeed absolute realities and standards that define what is true and what is not. Therefore, actions can be determined to be either right or wrong by how they measure up to those absolute standards.
There are philosophers who actually spend countless hours toiling over thick volumes written on the "meaninglessness" of everything. We can assume they think the text is meaningful! Then there are those philosophy teachers who teach their students, "No one's opinion is superior to anyone else's. There is no hierarchy of truth or values. Anyone's viewpoint is just as valid as anyone else's viewpoint. We all have our own truth." Then they turn around and grade the papers!

No one knows what the truth is or is'nt! So how could there be absolute truth on any plane? Have you ever had a dream and then awoke still mad? is that not your truth!!! But, on the otherhand is not death absolute truth. Not to me , because i believe that my soul will come back. But then those who believe that way still mourn your death. In short there is no absolute anything, absolute anywhere or absolute anytime, just Absolute vodka, CHEERS.........MASS

But these may not be the same perspective, like the blind men and the elephant. Our perceptions define reality.

I think it is an absolute truth that we need air to breathe, or that rain makes things grow, or that people killing each other over ideals is wrong. Other than that, truth is relative to the one that speaks it, so how can there be an ultimate truth?

Truth, like the universe is always in flux, always growing and expanding. What might be thought of as absolute truth today, given time will bend to what is needed to make it a different truth tomorrow. universal truth on the otherhand is subjective and just takes a majority consensus to make it their universal truth.

Truth is simply what is. Nothing more. Nothing less. Because the Universe is constantly in movement, therefore changing constantly, there is no absolute truth, except perhaps in the Universe itself and it's changing nature. To accept Absolute Truth means accepting a Static Universe. And that has never been my experience...
